Buckwheat hulls are the small triangular shells of the grain, and a pillow full of them behaves like cool, dry sand: it takes the exact shape of your head and neck and does not move until you do. People with neck pain, side sleepers with broad shoulders and anyone who runs hot tend to end up here, because air moves freely between the hulls and the pillow never warms up.

The drawbacks are real. It rustles every time you turn over, which takes about a week to stop noticing and bothers some partners more than the sleeper. It weighs 3.5 kg. And it is firm in a way no down pillow is: there is no give at all. Thirty nights is the right trial length for this one.

The page said it would be heavier than down and it is. I like that; my partner does not. Thirty nights was enough to find out which of us was buying the next one.

Bought on the tog number rather than the words and got exactly the warmth I expected. First time that has happened with bedding bought online.

Took a star off because the drawbacks listed are all real. Kept it anyway, because they were listed.
