A quilt rather than a duvet: two layers of washed cotton percale with a thin cotton wadding between, stitched through in a small diamond and bound at the edge. It weighs about the same as a sheet and a half. On top of the duvet it adds a little warmth and a lot of tidiness; alone, it is what many people sleep under from June to August.
It is washed before it is sewn and again after, so it arrives soft and slightly crumpled and stays that way. It will not stay flat and pressed-looking, and it is not meant to. The stitching lines are where it creases.
