Recycled wool is made by sorting worn-out wool garments by colour, shredding them and spinning the fibre again, which is why the yarn is never re-dyed and why the colours are a little heathered. The fibres are shorter than new wool, so the cloth is coarser to the touch and sheds more in its first weeks. It is also very warm for the price and keeps textile out of landfill.
The rust and heather checks are the last two colourways from this batch of sorted fibre; the next batch will come out differently, because it depends on what was collected. Reduced against the price it was listed at for the previous year.
